Miriam Carrion, our Interim Human Resource Manager is a culturally competent degreed Office Manager with over 20 years’ experience in several industries, including medical, retail, social work, legal, and healthcare. Ms. Carrion possesses a Bachelor’s in Science degree in Communications with an emphasis in Technical Writing. As an expert in Conflict Management and Certified Mediator, she is currently pursuing her Masters in Negotiation and Conflict Management. Ms. Carrion has complete fluency in both written as well as spoken English and the Spanish language. Extensive knowledge of office administration tasks such as implementation of policy, public and human relations, and compliance; along with accounting functions including structural.
Ms. Carrion migrated from the Island of Puerto Rico where shelabored in several administrative positions with Walmart Puerto Rico Inc for over twelve years. After relocating to Maryland Ms. Carrion worked for Good Time Pediatrics as the office Manager before starting her own Interpreting agency- Hispanic Advocates.
Hispanic Advocates was created to suffice the need of quality interpretation in the legal, medical, and community fields. Ms. Carrion holds professional memberships at the National Capitol Area Translators Association (NCATA) as well as with the National Association of Judiciary Interpreters (NAJIT). Ms.Carrion possesses court translation and interpretation experience through her work with the Department of Justice (DOJ), Executive Office of Immigration Review (EOIR), DHS and USCIS, Workers Compensation Hearings, Baltimore City and County Circuit and District Court, as well as the Department of Corrections.
Ms. Carrion continues to grow the importance of Diversity and Inclusion with a contract held with Baltimore City Schools and Baltimore County Department of Human Resources. Ms. Carrion has been providing her clients with Cultural Competency Consultation as well as Interpretation and Translation for several languages; all while assuring the needs of the ELL families are being met. Ms. Carrion holds a Federal Public Trust Security Clearance and is a Notary Public for the State of Maryland. Currently Ms. Carrion has assisted many private medical practices with government and federal compliances and guidelines. Ms. Carrion has been successful at the organization of offices, leading to maximum efficiency while maintaining a cooperative work environment and we are very excited to have her on the Self Determined Recovery Team.
